WHAT I ATE - VIRGINIA @ Cakes by Happy Eatery Manassas, VA It's time for the Asian Mid Autumn Harvest Festival! And how do you celebrate that? With Mooncakes! Double-yolk please! We found that fresh baked Mooncakes really make a difference compared to the ones you get at the Asian groceries in the metal tins. Those have been travelling for months in the hold of a shipping container! Victoria from Cakes by Happy Eatery explains their baking process to make the mooncakes with the perfect, tender crust in a variety of fillings! We tried the Black Sesame with Double-yolks, the Mixed Nut and Ginger Lemon! ALL WERE GOOD! My wife who does not really like mooncakes has changed her mind with these fresh baked varieties. Staff are friendly, always willing to help assist with your special orders. I've ordered a specialty cake for a work retirement party, employee congrats party and for my daughter's college graduation. I traveled with the graduation cake from Manassas to State College PA. I'm impressed each time I order. Keep in mind they do catering around the holidays (prime rib, turkey and all the fixings..)!!
I ordered my sister's graduation cake from this bakery a few years ago and it was so good, I knew I had to come back for my son's first birthday cake. Happy to say that I made the right choice! They were so friendly and professional, and cake exceeded my expectations completely! When the baker showed me the cake, I got goosebumps! I cannot recommend this bakery enough, they definitely helped make my son's first birthday party so special. :)
One of the few bakeries in NoVA that has moon cakes. I didn't come here more than once a year when I lived in the D.C. Area. Just for their moon cakes during the Moon Festival or mid-Autumn festival.
Ordered here before for the cupcakes, which were amazing! For the cakes: it's a hit or miss on the design but always spot-on on the taste. I think this business should invest in hiring cake decorators for custom cakes (so it's a maybe for me for custom cakes), but for last-minute or "just because" cakes and cupcakes, I recommend them. The staff is always accommodating every time I visit so that's a plus.
The one place that knew exactly what I was asking for and had no problem making it! Happy Eatery has been around forever...back in the day, 40 year ago lol, it was first opened in Alexandria/Arlington. It's a Chinese bakery so I remembered my parents taking us as kids once a month for a treat! Chinese desserts are usually light and too sweet...so this was the only place my parents went for our cakes, not the heavily iced "American" cakes hahaha! Anyways, since they opened the bakery in Manassas (they also had a shop in Centreville that I have gone to), I just never had the chance to stop in...until now! My British coworker requested this cake and I had no clue what it was until I Googled it. Sounds simple but NO ONE made this cake. Finally I thought of Happy Eatery and gave them a call. Without hesitation she knew exactly and took my order! Picked it up right at opening and it was perfect! My coworker loved it! So Happy Eatery for the win!
Once again....you killed it loved the emegency Ferror Roche cake. This place is the best in Manassas. Must try
